McMahon Media wired this house in Franklin, Ma last year for a custom home builder. Having designed several audio video systems for other clients in the newly built neighborhood we were excited to design a system for the last and final house. We ended up lucky enough to win the opportunity and installed a surround sound system for the client that purchased the house.
Since the TV was mounted above the fireplace and there were built-in cabinets to the left and right we decided to use bookshelf style speakers. We had the 3 front speakers from Triad custom painted to blend in with the built-ins and the moulding. We simply placed the left and right front speakers on the built-in shelves at a comfortable listening height. The center channel speaker was mounted just above the TV. The sub-woofer, cable box, and Blu-ray disc player sit in the cabinet out of sight. And of course there is a custom remote that controls the whole system without having to open the cabinet doors. The surround sound system had rear speakers that are of a low-profile design and were mounted to the wall. These too were also paint matched to the walls to “blend in”. There is enough space in the cabinet to add to the system for multi-room music when the customer so desires. The kitchen and master bedroom are also wired for in-ceiling speakers to add music to those spaces.
The customer loved it so much that they are looking to add to the system already and bring audio and video outdoors to the pool area. An outdoor TV and music system for the cabana are in the works. The house is also wired for multiple speaker locations inside.
